Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 will be released on October 5 but the update won’t include Android app support. The Windows 11 will be available as a free upgrade for eligible Windows 10 PCs or on new hardware that ships with Windows 11 pre-loaded.

Windows 11 brings a host of changes, including a redesigned Start menu, updated UI design and sounds, widgets, an updated Microsoft Store app, and gaming related features such as Auto HDR and Direct Storage. Windows 11 will also support Android applications through a partnership with Amazon and Intel. However, this feature won’t be available at launch. A preview of this feature will be made available to Windows Insiders over the coming months.

The new operating system promises users enhanced productivity features to help improve our work-from-home routines with new Teams and Microsoft 365 integration. Windows 11 will also include plenty of new ways to relax when we clock off at the end of a busy day. Microsoft is bringing Android apps to Windows for the first time. In the coming months, people will notice Android apps in the Microsoft Store and will be able to download them through the Amazon Appstore.
The update will roll-out gradually from October 5. On existing Windows 10 PCs, Windows Update will let people know when the upgrade is available for Windows 11.
